Staffing and Specialist Teaching
The Department has a committed and dedicated staff consisting of 6 full-time and 2 part time class teachers. In addition, the SENCO (special educational needs coordinator) identifies, monitors and coordinates special needs provision within the Department and the Leaning Support Teacher provides additional support for pupils identified as having special educational needs. Two classroom assistants are trained to deliver the Reading Partnership Programme. The pupils who are withdrawn for additional reading support, with parental permission, achieve greater success in a short time.
There are a large number of ancillary staff including supervisory assistants, buildings managers and cleaning staff.
The Department enjoys the benefits of specialist teaching in Art, Music, PE and Games from teachers in the Senior School.
The pupils also enjoy weekly lessons in the Department from peripatetic French and Drama specialist teachers.
The Head of Department leads the staff and curriculum and liases with the Headmaster and staff of the senior school.
Together we generate a family atmosphere and provide a friendly, stable and caring environment in which every pupil is valued and celebrated.
